《봉숭아학당》은 1991년 KBS 코미디 프로그램의 한 코너에서 가져온 제목이자, ‘여러 사람이 한자리에 모여 있으면서도 각자 자기 이야기만 쏟아내는 통제되지 않는 난장판’을 가리키는 표현이다. 이 작업은 서로 다른 시대와 문화, 매체에서 비롯된 이미지들을 한 화면에 끌어모아 다시 배열한 디지털 드로잉이다. peach는 의도된 오역이 맞음
Bongsunga Hakdang takes its title from a comedy segment first aired on KBS in 1991. The phrase has also come to describe “an unruly scene in which many people gather in one place, yet each continues to talk only about themselves.” This digital drawing brings together images drawn from different eras, cultures, and media, rearranging them within a single frame.

서로 다른 시대와 문화에서 가져온 이미지들을 하나의 화면에 모은 디지털 수채화 작업이다. 얼마나 다양한 이미지를 수집할 수 있는가? 진정한 의미에서 무작위(Random)로 이미지를 수집할 수 있는가? 무작위라는 것이 가능하긴 한가? 우리는 거친 생각과 불안한 눈빛과 시선(Gaze)으로부터 자유로울 수 있는가?
This digital watercolor brings together images drawn from different eras and cultures within a single frame. How diverse can the collected images be? Is it possible to collect images in a truly random way? Is randomness itself even possible? Can we ever be free from wild thoughts, uneasy eyes, and eye of the tiger?

이 작업은 동서양의 고전과 현대적 이미지를 혼합하여 구성한 디지털 일러스트레이션작업이다. 17~18세기 유럽에서 유행한 중국풍 미술 양식인 시누아즈리(Chinoiserie) 스타일을 재해석한 이 시리즈는 상상된 타자, 서양이 생각한 동양, 동양이 생각한 서양, 현재가 생각한 과거와 과거가 생각한 미래를 디지털 트레이싱으로 합쳤다. 가로로 펼쳐지는 구성 속에서 선형적 서사나 이미지의 위계 대신, 관람자의 해석을 무척이나 기대한다.
This work is a digital illustration series that blends classical and modern imagery from both the East and the West. Reinterpreting Chinoiserie—the Chinese-inspired art style popular in 17th and 18th-century Europe—the series employs digital tracing to merge layers of the "imagined other": the East through Western eyes, the West through Eastern eyes, the past viewed from the present, and the future as envisioned by the past. Within its horizontally expanding composition, the work avoids linear narratives or visual hierarchies, leaving the completion of the piece entirely to the viewer’s own interpretation, which is highly anticipated.

보라색 중세 가요집Digital Print

이 작업은 한국 가수 김라마의 앨범 『보라색 중세가요집』(2025년 9월 발매)을 위한 메인 커버 및 CD 자켓 일러스트레이션으로 의뢰되었다. 앨범의 핵심 콘셉트인 ‘현대 한국의 시대상을 반영한 중세풍 성인가요’를 시각화하는 것이 목적이었으며, 중세 이미지를 통해 창세도 말세도 아닌 과도기의 현재를 상징적인 ‘가요집’으로 재해석하고자 했다. 중세 이미지와 현대 레퍼런스를 결합해 디지털로 제작한 뒤 Adobe Illustrator·InDesign으로 보정·레이아웃했다. 티리언 퍼플 기반 보라 팔레트와 엠블럼형 구성, 상징 오브젝트로 스케일별 가독성과 밀도를 함께 잡았다.
This project was commissioned as the main album cover and CD jacket for Korean singer Gim Llama’s album Purplr Medieval Pop (released September 2025). The brief was to visualize “medieval-style secular songs reflecting contemporary Korean society.” I approached the album as a symbolic songbook, using medieval imagery to draw parallels between the present and a historical transitional era—neither genesis nor apocalypse, but an unstable in-between state.
Digitally illustrated by fusing medieval and contemporary references, then refined and laid out in Adobe Illustrator and InDesign. A restricted Tyrian-purple palette, emblematic composition, and symbolic motifs balance clarity and detail across scales.
